skull

I'm still not entirely sure what kind of skull this is. It was given to me by a friend who spends a lot of time wandering around wooded areas (the best kind of friends to have). It's very fragile--I was afraid to do anything more than the most gentle of cleaning, and even so the bone is almost to the point of crumbling to touch.

life drawing

Probably the oldest of all the old school drawing that there is, but screw it, I deeply enjoy drawing the human figure.

The drawings done in marker are in the 3-5 minute time range, the ones in graphite are...longer. Usually under an hour, though. I really need to start marking that info down. Also, I may be the only artist ever who hates sketching in charcoal.

moleskine pt 2

Some selected pages. Click to enlarge and view my horrible handwriting in all its glory.

just in case anyone thought I was cool

I finished my little moleskine sketchbook the other day...and while I think their branding is a little ridiculous, they hold up far better than any other sketchbook that size. As this is the sketchbook that is most often with me, it tends to get a lot of random notes and doodles instead of thought-out drawings. I really like how it is as an object, which is hard to show on the internet, but hopefully these tiled scans give you the idea.

A large chunk of the book has to do with dinosaurs. Because, you never know when you might have to explain dino--->bird evolution to someone, and describing pelvises is kinda tricky without pictures.

Capt. Swell

First four poses from the Dr. Sketchy night. I think they were all five minutes, the last one or two may have been ten.

The text, in my lovely handwriting, reads: "Oh look, a guy on stilts. Isn't it exciting." Cut off on the right it says "TA DA! Jazz hands!" Yeah, I dunno either.

testing

Let's see how this looks.

This ought to set the tone nicely.

Hi, I'm Celia and I like to draw monsters. Other things too, but I keep returning to the monsters.
